IPO scientific research network has taken part in the International Congress “Dermatological Care for All: Common Diseases for Neglected People”, carried out in Addis Ababa and Makelle, Ethiopia, from 24 to 27 November 2009. The event, come at its third edition, has been organized by the National Institute for Health, Migration and Poverty (NIHMP), in collaboration with the Tigray Regional Health Bureau (THB), the University of Mekelle, the Italian Development Cooperation, the International Society of Dermatology (ISD) and the International Institute of Social, Medical, and Anthropological Sciences (IISMAS).

200912_2vThe aim is to implement and spread out, in Developing Countries, dermatological services and health training on the field, promoting access to quality skin care at the community level, through the best sustainable low cost technology. Experts and doctors, from all over the world, took part in the Congress. Several topics have been dealt with during the meeting, following we are reporting significant parts extracted from our supervisors’ speeches.

[...] devising cosmeceutical formulation based on medicinal plants extracts, with a solid scientific rationale, could represent an interesting opportunity to produce cheap therapeutic solution for common dermatological diseases.”
