Goal 2011: An Health Center for Ankober

IPO and Ankober Woreda Health Bureau have opened preliminary agreements on the construction of local health center. The project aims at improving health care access and quality service in the area.

The 2011 objective is providing the area with the health center, in line with Ethiopian Development Plan which foresees the construction of one health center each 25000 inhabitants.

Nowadays over 75000 inhabitants living in Ankober Woreda have to cover around 40 km to reach Debre Berhan hospital, the nearest center able to meet a wider health care demand.

Several resources have been mobilized in order to reach the goal. Ankober Woreda Health Bureau has committed itself in participating in the project, operatively and financially, through government funds and local resources (building material, labour, medical staff and drugs).

At the same time in Italy, several not for profit organizations, NGOs, charitable associations and Umbria Regional Administrations are mobilizing their resources in order to raise funds for the construction of Ankober health center.

The project is based on the collaboration of communities, associations and public administrations, united to reach one common goal: answering to real needs, answering to direct demand of Ankober people, with whom IPO has been working since several years.
